This year, Forest Row Festival has successfully applied to be part of the Tesco Bags of Help scheme. Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects. Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store during July and August 2017 on who should receive the £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards.
So, the festival, along with two other local projects, will be put forward for public vote in local Tesco stores to determine the size of the grant we will receive. The local stores are Forest Row Express and Crowborough Superstore. Each store has a voting booth with blue tokens. Customers can ask for a token when they make a purchase and place their voting token in the appropriate booth (the Forest Row Festival one, obviously!).
The scheme runs from 1st July to the 31st August 2017, so if you’re in either of those stores in that period, please ask for a token and pop it in the Forest Row Festival slot.
